The State Museum of Prehistory in Halle is one of the most important archaeological museums in Central Europe. It is home to one of Germany's oldest and most comprehensive archaeological collections.
The State Museum of Prehistory is one of the most important archaeological museums in Central Europe and presents numerous objects of international significance. It is also world-famous as the home of the Nebra Sky Disk , an approximately 3,600-year-old circular bronze plate with gold appliqués that is part of the UNESCO World Document Heritage. In total, the collection comprises a stock of 16 million finds.
Thematic exhibition sections such as " Intellectual Power," "Brilliant Bronze" or "Human Transformation" take you through nearly 400,000 years of human history in chronological order - from the beginning of the Stone Age to the early modern era. Germany's rich cultural heritage is explored through the elaborate, unconventional display of exquisite objects from the collection in the permanent exhibition. The museum sees itself as a modern experience space and is to be further expanded. Opening hours: Tuesday through Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
