Youth Hostel Prora
The DJH Youth Hostel Prora on Rügen is located directly on the beach of Germany's largest island. Providing 424 beds in 96 rooms, it is the largest youth hostel in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In addition, up to 1,000 outdoor fans find a place for their tent on the adjacent camping site. Sports facilities and playgrounds included. Families, school classes and groups feel at home and take advantage of the wide range of services offered by the certified youth hostel. The youth hostel has 32 wheelchair spaces in 16 rooms. A lift is available.

- There are two marked parking spaces for people with disabilities at the youth hostel (parking space size 350 cm x 500 cm).
- The distance from the parking lot to the main entrance is 25 m, to the entrance for people with disabilities 10 m.
- The path from the car park to the entrances is easy to walk and drive on due to its surface quality.
- An elevator is available at the entrance without steps and thresholds for people with disabilities.
- The main entrance can only be reached via a staircase with 18 steps and handrail.
- The size of the elevator cab at the entrance (to the cafeteria) is 107 cm x 210 cm.
- The size of the elevator cab in staircase B (to the dining room) is 103 cm x 140 cm.
- The reception counter is 118 cm high.
- All evaluated doors and passages are at least 90 cm wide.
- All evaluated rooms that are available to the guest are accessible at ground level or via elevator.
- In the cafeteria and dining area there are wheelchair accessible tables.

Room 01.01 with sanitary room (double bedroom)
- The manoeuvring space in the sleeping area is at least 150 cm x 150 cm in front of essential immobile furnishings and 200 cm x 300 cm to the right of the bed.
- The maximum height of the mattress is 41 cm.
- A nursing bed can be provided.
- The manoeuvring spaces in the sanitary room are:
at the door, in front of the toilet and the washbasin at least 150 cm x 150 cm,
on the left next to the toilet 158 cm x 70 cm, on the right the toilet is not accessible. - There are handles on both sides of the toilet, the left one can be folded up.
- The shower area at ground level is 130 cm x 130 cm. A shower chair and horizontal grab handles are available.
- The washbasin is wheelchair compatible and the mirror can be seen while standing and sitting.
Room 01.13 with sanitary room (multi-bedroom)
- The manoeuvring space in the sleeping area is 143 cm x 180 cm in front of essential immobile furnishings and 200 cm x 300 cm to the right of the bed.
- The maximum height of the mattress is 47 cm.
- A nursing bed can be provided.
- The manoeuvring spaces in the sanitary room are:
at the door 143 cm x 180 cm,
in front of the toilet and the washbasin at least 150 cm x 150 cm,
to the left of the toilet 158 cm x 70 cm, to the right the toilet is not accessible. - There are handles on both sides of the toilet, the left one can be folded up.

Public toilet for people with disabilities
- There are three diffent public toilets.
- The manoeuvring spaces are at least:

in front of the toilet and the washbasin at least 150 cm x 150 cm,
to the left of the toilet 92 cm x 70 cm, to the right 94 cm x 70 cm. - There are handles on both sides of the toilet which can be folded up.
- The washbasin is wheelchair compatible and the mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.

- In the event of an audible alarm, no visually perceptible flashing light or flashing signal appears.
- There is no audio induction loop.
- An outgoing emergency call is confirmed audibly in the elevators. Alternatively, stairs are available.
- In the cafeteria and dining room there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting, on which there are no lamps standing or hanging that restrict the field of vision or eye contact. Seating areas with low background noises are available.
- WIFI access and a fax machine are available for communication.
- In the evaluated bedrooms, there is at least one freely available electrical outlet near the bed.

- Assistance dogs are allowed.
- The main entrance is visually rich in contrast and can be recognized by a tactile change of floor covering.
- Glass doors are sometimes marked with safety markings.
- In the elevators, signs can be tactilely read, but are not available in Braille. The operating elements are tactile. The stopping position is announced by spoken commands. An outgoing emergency call is confirmed audibly. Alternatively, stairs are available.
- Stairs are not designed with visually or tactile rich in contrast edges. Handrails are available, these are continued horizontally at the beginning and end of the stairways.
- There are no obstacles, e.g. objects protruding into the path/room.
- On outside paths, pavement boundaries are tactilely detectable and visually rich in contrast.
- All evaluated areas are brightly lit and glare-free.
- Information is available in clearly legible font.
- Operating elements can be captured tactilely throughout the entire building and are visually rich in contrast almost everywhere.

- Name and logo of the establishment are clearly recognizable from the outside at the main entrance, but not at the entrance for people with disabilities.
- Business cards/brochures with address and telephone number of the host are visibly displayed at the reception desk.
- The destinations of the routes are usually within sight. There is an uninterrupted guidance system.
- A menu is available, the dishes are presented visibly.
- There is information in easy language and in photorealistic representation.
- The path to the bedroom, the bedroom and the room key are marked with the same color markingings.
