Youth Hostel Oberstdorf (Robert Pupeter)

The youth hostel Oberstdorf is located on Oberstdorf's sun terrace, the mountain settlement Kornau at the "gateway to Kleinwalsertal". The surrounding area is ideal for a wide variety of activities such as hiking, mountaineering, climbing and skiing. 

The house offers 214 beds, three dining and recreation rooms for up to 213 people, a TV and training room for a maximum of 50 people, a sports and games room with disco, and a children's playroom.

  • A public car park is available. There are no marked parking spaces for people with disabilities. For loading and unloading, it is possible to drive up to the entrance. The distance from the car park to the entrance is 140 m.
  • The main and side entrances (night entrance) are each accessible via two steps without handrails.
  • The reception counter is 106 cm high. 
  • The evaluated rooms on the ground floor that can be used by the guest are accessible at ground level, the areas in the basement only via a staircase with handrail.
  • Doors are at least 80 cm wide (exceptions: cabin doors to the toilets 56 cm to 59 cm). There are no revolving doors.
  • In the dining room there are wheelchair accessible tables.

Room 4 and 5 (multi-bedroom) on the ground floor

  • The manoeuvring space in the bedroom is 150 cm x 177 cm in front of essential immobile furnishings, 115 cm x 200 cm to the right of the bed, to the left the bed stands next to the wall.
  • A nursing bed cannot be provided.
  • There is a washbasin in the room. The manoeuvring space in front of it is at least 150 cm x 150 cm. The washbasin has limited wheelchair access and the mirror cannot be seen in a sitting position.

Sanitary rooms with toilets and showers on the ground floor

  • The height of the shower tray to the floor at ground level is 10 cm. The shower area is 82 cm x 150 cm.
  • There is no shower chair or grab handles.
  • There is no toilet available designed for people with disabilities. The cabin doors are 59 cm wide.
  • There is no toilet available designed for people with disabilities. The cabin doors are 56 cm wide.

  • There is no optically perceivable alarm in the building.
  • There is no audio induction loop.
  • In the dining room there are bright and glare-free tables with no lamps standing or hanging that restrict the visual field. Seating areas with low background noises are available.
