Palatinate Forest Youth Hostel

The  Palatinate Forest Youth Hostel has 121 beds in rooms for 1, 2 and 4 people and multi-bed occupancy. All rooms are equipped with shower/toilet.

The hostel belongs to the category IV+.

Modernity and nature in harmony. The nature park youth hostel is located in the middle of the Palatinate Forest nature park and, after fundamental modernisation, is one of the most modern youth hostels. The Palatinate Forest is Germany's largest contiguous forest area and a designated biosphere reserve. In this charming landscape, Hochspeyer lies just outside the Palatinate metropolis of Kaiserslautern. 

The youth hostel has 7 lounges and event rooms of various sizes for 8 to 70 people, which can be combined for up to 140 people.

  • There are two marked parking spaces for people with disabilities (parking space size: 315 cm x 600 cm).
  • The bus stop "Hochspeyer Abzw. Jugendherberge" is 200 m away.
  • The building is steplessly accessible.
  • All evaluated rooms and facilities available to the guests are steplessly accessible via an elevator. The elevator cabin measures 108 cm x 140 cm.
  • All evaluated passageways/doors available to the guests are at least 90 cm wide.
  • The reception desk is at its lowest point 75 cm high.
  • There are wheelchair accessible tables available in the dining room (maximum height 80 cm, wheelchair accessible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm).

Room 212 (double room, 2nd floor)

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of essential stationary furnishings (e.g. wardrobe) 150 cm x 150 cm;
    left or right of the single beds 120 cm x 180 cm.
  • The beds are 55 cm high.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the bathroom are:

  • There are grab rails available on the right and left of the toilet. The grab rails can be flipped-up.
  • The sink is wheelchair compatible. The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
  • The shower is accessible without thresholds. The manoeuvring space is 115 cm x 140 cm. A shower seat and grab rails are available.

Room 212 (multi-bed room, 2nd floor)

  • The manoeuvring spaces are:
    in front of essential stationary furnishings (e.g. wardrobe) 200 cm x 150 cm;
    left of the bed 125 cm x 200 cm, on the right is the bed against the wall
  • The bed is 44 cm high.
  • The manoeuvring spaces in the bathroom are:
    in front of the toilet 200 cm x 140 cm; in front of the washbasin 200 cm x 150 cm;
    left of the toilet 145 cm x 70 cm and right of the toilet 40 cm x 70 cm.
  • There are grab rails available on the right and left of the toilet. The grab rails can be flipped-up.

  • There is no audio induction loop system.
  • An outgoing emergency call in the elevator is confirmed audibly.
  • In the dining room and in the bistro there are tables with bright and glare-free lighting, on which there are no lamps standing or hanging that interfere with the field of vision or eye contact. There is no seating area with low background noises (e.g. corner seating, separate room).

Rooms 212 and 215 (double room/multi-bed room)

  • Room 212 has at least one freely available electrical outlet near the bed, room 215 does not.
  • The ringing or knocking on the door is not indicated by a flashing signal which can be detected in all rooms.
  • WiFi is offered.
