Scandic Berlin Potsdamer Platz

All areas relevant for testing meet the quality criteria of the label "Accessibility certified - accessible for people with walking disabilities and partially accessible for wheelchair users".

Some information on accessibility are listed below. For detailed information please see the evaluation report.

• There are four marked parking spaces for people with disabilities (parking space size: 350 cm x 500 cm).
• The DB/S-Bahn station Potsdamer Platz is approx. 500 metres away, the nearest underground station Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Park is 160 metres away.
• The building is steplessly accessible.
• All evaluated rooms and facilities available to the guests are steplessly accessible at ground level or via elevators or a wheelchair lift.
• The platform of the wheelchair lift is 112 cm x 166 cm.
• The lift cabin (lift 1-5 identical in construction) is 125 cm x 180 cm. Lift 1 also goes down to the lowest level. 
• Almost all evaluated passageways/doors available to the guests are at least 88 cm wide.
  Exception: The bathroom door in room 5099 is 85 cm wide.
• The reception desk is at its lowest point 95 cm high. There is another, equivalent communication possibility while in a sitting position.
• There are wheelchair accessible tables available in the restaurant and in the breakfast room (maximum height 80 cm, wheelchair accessible at a height of 67 cm and a depth of 30 cm).
• Offered aids: Wheelchair, scooter, height-adjustable nursing bed (own), vibration alarm clock, defibrillator on the ground floor and 3rd floor, toilet seat raiser, cane holder in the reception counter, lift for the bed 0 cm).

Barrier-free room 4039 (double room)

• There is a connecting door to another room available.
• The manoeuvring spaces are:
  in front of/behind the door and in front of essential stationary furnishings (e.g. wardrobe) at least 150 cm x 150 cm;
  left of the bed 145 cm x 200 cm, right of the bed 60 cm x 200 cm. 
• The bed is 60 cm high.
• The manoeuvring spaces in the bathroom are:
  in front of/behind the door, in front of the toilet and the washbasin at least 150 cm x 150 cm;
  left of the toilet  130 cm x 70 cm, right of the toilet 30 cm x 70 cm.
• There are grab rails available on the right and left of the toilet. The grab rail on the left of the toilet can be flipped-up. 
• The sink is wheelchair compatible.
• The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
• The shower is accessible without thresholds.
• The manoeuvring space in the shower is 145 cm x 145 cm. 
• A shower seat is available or can be provided if required.
• There are grab rails available in the shower.
• An alarm trigger is available. 

 Barrier-free room 5001 (double room) 

• There is a connecting door to another room available.
• The manoeuvring spaces are:
  in front of/behind the door and in front of essential stationary furnishings (e.g. wardrobe) at least 150 cm x 150 cm;
  left of the bed 60 cm x 200 cm, right of the bed 200 cm x 140 cm. 
• The bed is 60 cm high.
• The manoeuvring spaces in the bathroom are:
  in front of/behind the door, in front of the toilet and the washbasin at least 150 cm x 150 cm;
  left of the toilet 30 cm x 70 cm, right of the toilet at least 130 cm x 70 cm.
• There are grab rails available on the right and left of the toilet. The grab rail on the right of the toilet can be flipped-up. 
• The sink is wheelchair compatible.
• The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
• The shower is accessible without thresholds.

  left of the bed 60 cm x 200 cm; right of the bed 150 cm x 200 cm.
• The bed is 56 cm high.
• The manoeuvring spaces in the bathroom are:
  in front of/behind the door, in front of the toilet and the washbasin 130 cm x 200 cm;
  right of the toilet 130 cm x 55 cm, no manoeuvring space on the left.
• There are grab rails available on the right and left of the toilet. The grab rail on the right of the toilet can be flipped-up. 
• The sink is wheelchair compatible.
• The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
• The shower is accessible without thresholds.
• The manoeuvring space in the shower is 145 cm x 145 cm. 
• A shower seat is available or can be provided if required.

Public toilet for people with disabilities (ground floor)

• The manoeuvring spaces are:
  in front of/behind the door, in front of the toilet at least and in front of the washbasin 150 cm x 150 cm;
  left and right of the toilet 90 cm x 70 cm. 
• There are grab rails available on the right and left of the toilet. The grab rails can be flipped-up.
• The sink has access.  
• The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
• An alarm trigger is available. 

Public toilet for people with disabilities (3rd floor)

• The manoeuvring spaces are:
  in front of/behind the door 150 cm x 150 cm;
  in front of the toilet at least and in front of the washbasin 125 cm x 150 cm;
  left and right of the toilet 90 cm x 70 cm. 
• There are grab rails available on the right and left of the toilet. The grab rails can be flipped-up.
• The sink has access.  
• The mirror can be seen while standing or sitting.
• An alarm trigger is available.
