Art Collection NRW K20 Grabbeplatz Düsseldorf
NRW K20 is a mecca for all modern art aficionados as the most highly regarded of Düsseldorf's museums, featuring masterpieces by the likes of Henri Matisse, Gerhard Richter, Pablo Picasso and Joseph Beuys.
The exquisite collections at K20 have earned the museum a leading international reputation. The exhibition is divided into two large areas, with one being dedicated to art prior to 1945. The timeline here starts with Fauvism, moving on to Expressionism, the "Blue Rider" group, Cubism and Metaphysical Art. Next come the major art movements of the 1920s and 1930s, Dadaism and Surrealism, along with their polar opposites, Constructivism, Bauhaus and De Stijl.
Visitors are also offered an insight into the world of art after the Second World War. This part of the exhibition covers everything from works of American Abstract Expressionism to modern-day artists using the medium of photography. Another highlight here is the display of European paintings including masterpieces by Gerhard Richter, Per Kirkeby and Markus Lüpertz alongside an extensive Joseph Beuys collection. Opening times: Tuesday to Friday: 10 am–6 pm, Saturday and Sunday: 11 am–6 pm, the first Wednesday of every month: 10 am–10 pm
