Art Collection NRW K21 Ständehaus Düsseldorf
The old Ständehaus is the perfect setting for a collection of international contemporary art with its stunning architecture in the Neo-Renaissance style and pretty inner courtyard.
When visitors first enter the museum, they find themselves in a spectacular room with a huge glass dome. They can then go on to explore the five floors housing the comprehensive collection ranging from the late 1970s to the modern day. There are plenty of artists' rooms and film/video installations along the way. The artists represented here include: Eija-Liisa Ahtila, Marcel Broodthaers, Katharina Fritsch, Dan Graham, Andreas Gursky, Candida Höfer, William Kentridge, Imi Knoebel, Sherry Levine, Paul McCarthy, Reinhard Mucha, Nam June Paik, Thomas Schütte, Thomas Struth and Jeff Wall.
Temporary exhibitions are staged in a large hall in the basement and the Pardo Bar can be found on K21's ground floor. Cuban-born artist Jorge Pardo the Pardo Bar can be found on K21's ground floor. Cuban-born artist Jorge Pardo provided the design inspiration for the walls and lighting, with the café being brought to life with a soap bubble pattern in shades of orange and green. Opening times: Tuesday to Friday: 10 am–6 pm, Saturday and Sunday: 11 am–6 pm, the first Wednesday of the month: 10 am–10 pm
