Gallery of Old and New Masters Schwerin
The Gallery of Old and New Masters in Schwerin is home to more than 100,000 works of art and one of the most comprehensive collections of Dutch paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries.
The State Museum of Schwerin is known for its outstanding collection of Dutch paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries. It was collated by the former dukes of Mecklenburg, who The world's largest collection of works by French animal painter Jean-Baptist Oudry can also be found here, consisting of 34 paintings and countless sketches.
20th-century pieces by Max Liebermann, Lovis Corinth, Nam June Paik and Wolfgang Mattheuer enhance the collection of artwork here even further. The gallery also features a selection of printed and hand-crafted works, the Bölkow Foundation Ernst Barlach collection and Germany's largest collection of works by Marcel Duchamps. The art gallery's unique blend of architecture and collections means that it is unlike any other museum in Germany. Opening times: April to October: Tuesday to Sunday 10 am–6 pm, November to March: Tuesday to Sunday 10 am–5 pm
