H2 Centre of Contemporary Art Augsburg
The H2 Centre of Contemporary Art in Augsburg is located in the Glaspalast, a building flooded with light and offering some 1,500 square metres of exhibition space, where a fascinating array of contemporary art is on display.
The Glaspalast building, an architectural monument of European importance, provides the ideal setting for art, culture and business. The space inside is used for temporary exhibitions and experimentation alongside the display of its own growing collection of new, on-trend artwork.
Having opened its doors in 2006, this is the most recent addition to the Augsburg museum scene. In addition to its 56 exhibitions, it hosts artist discussion sessions, performances, concerts, conferences and trade events. The H2 addresses trends that are of interest on a national and international level, but also provides a platform for a selection of work by artists working within Augsburg and the local area. Many of the exhibits in the collection are the result of involvement in projects and collaboration with artists, but the museum also receives private donations, gifts and proactive support from benefactors of the Augsburg-based art collections. The Glaspalast is also home to a gallery and the Walter Museum. Opening times: Every day except Monday: 10 am–5 pm
