Germany's youngest national park is located in the middle of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park. Rustic forests and a rich variety of flora and fauna characterize this protected area, which stretches across the high altitudes of the Hunsrück.

Rocky ridges and weathered boulders in the woods give the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park in Rhineland-Palatinate and the Saarland its wild edge. The range of vacation activities includes ranger and adventure tours, exciting and informative visits to the three national park gates with exhibitions and a wildlife enclosure, as well as hikes on the Saar-Hunsrück Climb or the Dream Loops past romantic lakes, through enchanted valleys and to magnificent views. While geology fans can admire seas of rocks, animal lovers can observe old breeds of domestic animals and wild animals in the game reserve and history buffs can marvel at Celtic relics such as the ring wall in Otzenhausen.
