This varied circular route between the historic town halls of Münster and Osnabrück is a culturally and scenically diverse long-distance cycle route along historic bridle paths.

The Peace of Westphalia in 1648 is regarded as the first major peace congress of modern times – and a huge success. However, it still took five years before the Thirty Years' War came to an end. Numerous letters were sent back and forth between Münster and Osnabrück, transported by the 'peace riders'. Nowadays, cyclists can follow in their footsteps to learn about the agreement and its impact all across Europe at twelve listening stations. The landscape also appears peaceful, as both the east and west routes lead past wide meadows and fields and through the Teutoburg Forest, which is dense in places.
