The Tauber Valley Panorama Trail - hiking through the charming Tauber Valley
The Tauber Valley Panorama Trail guides hikers through an enchanting landscape in northern Bavaria. It is the natural surroundings and the many cultural attractions in the places along the Tauber river which make this trail unique.
The way-marker for the Tauber Valley Panorama Trail is a hiking boot on a red background. These signposts guide hikers to countless works of art by sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider hidden away in the churches of the Tauber Valley. We hike past castles, palaces, half-timbered houses, mills and museums, yet wine is the Tauber Valley's main focus. Our hiking trail uncovers the most beautiful vineyards in the valley and takes us right past the vines. But don't snack on the grapes! The Müller-Thurgau is a typical white wine from the Tauber Valley. The "Rottauberschwarz" red wine grape variety grows exclusively in the Tauber Valley. All wines are sold in traditional round and bulbous Bocksbeutel bottles. They are unique to the region and typical for Franconian wines . There's nothing better than a high-quality wine after a lovely hike.
TIP: Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Manuel Andrack, editor, presenter, author and hiking blogger:
"Don't miss the chance to visit the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The town itself along with the half-timbered houses, German "Gemütlichkeit" (congeniality) and romantic flair shine through here. As a German travel destination, Rothenburg is even more popular than Cologne Cathedral and Brandenburg Gate in Berlin."
