EXPERIENCE GERMANY
Germany Travel teamed up with four influencers in Sweden and Norway to explore the sustainable side of Germany. By using the hashtag #stayalittlebitlonger the aim is to spend more than just a weekend and actually take the time to experience all hidden gems around the chosen area. The travelers reach the country by train and ferries, once they arrive at their destinations they switch to public transportation and bicycles. During a week they spend time hiking in breathtaking nature, wander the endless fields of the Sachsen vineyards, and stroll in the picturesque alleys of old towns. Come along with us and explore all things sustainable in the four destinations that hopefully will inspire your next vacation!
SUSTAINABLE FUN
The travelers were allocated four different destinations and the instructions of having an enjoyable trip while keeping sustainability in mind at all times and keeping the carbon footprint down to the minimum. Thus, all decisions of activities, accommodation, food etc. needed to be chosen consciously.
Factors to take into consideration while planning your trip:
- Opt for eco-friendly accommodations that prioritize energy efficiency from renewable sources, practice water conservation, and employ effective waste management strategies.
- Choose sustainable restaurants with locally sourced ingredients that are in season, preferably with menus stating the carbon footprint of each meal.
- Make use of public transportation instead of using cabs.
- Experience the city like a local and rent bikes to get around.
- Choose vintage stores for shopping to act sustainable and collect authentic souvenirs.
- Make the most of the travels you are booking by staying longer in one area, rather than prioritizing several weekends in different countries.

Tora is a Norwegian travel influencer who has recently returned home from a six-month trip with her partner Marcus. She loves experiencing new places, and has spent much of her free time (and savings) in recent years exploring the world. She generously shares her experiences with her 40,000 followers on Tiktok, and is excited about sharing the sustainable side of Germany with them to present the concept of #stayalittlebitlonger. Tora considers herself a slow traveler who prioritizes spending longer time at each destination to have an authentic experience rather than rushing from place to place. Slow traveling is one of the main pillars of sustainable tourism, and Tora will show how you can get the best out of slow traveling in Germany this summer.
